How To Save From Instagram & TikTok FAQs
Can I save recipes from social media?
Yes, the MyRecipes app currently supports the ability to save posts from Instagram and TikTok with a paid membership to MyRecipes+.
How do I turn a social media post into a savable recipe?
MyRecipes+ members can easily turn recipe posts on Instagram and TikTok into savable, cookable dishes. Just follow these simple steps.
On Instagram:
- Open Instagram and find the post you’d like to save.
- Tap the share icon on that post (it looks like a paper airplane).
- Then tap the "Share to..." icon. Find the MyRecipes icon and tap it (if you don't see it, scroll to the right and tap “More,” then select MyRecipes from the list).
A screen will appear telling you that MyRecipes is importing your post and turning it into a recipe. If you have notifications enabled you will receive a notification when your recipe is ready (please note, this may take a little time). You will also see an icon for the recipe appear in the “Recently Saved” carousel on the app’s home page. Tap the notification or the icon and you will be taken to the recipe.
To edit the recipe, open it and tap the three dots. Tap Edit to update the title, ingredients, or directions. (MyRecipes checks every recipe for available information, however, if the post doesn’t include enough details, the saved recipe may contain only a title or partial ingredients and steps.)
What MyRecipes imports depends on the information available in the original post. MyRecipes looks for recipe information in a linked recipe, the post caption, and the spoken audio. If the post doesn't include enough recipe details, the saved recipe may contain only a title or partial ingredients and steps. MyRecipes doesn't add details the creator didn't provide, but you can add or correct information using Edit.
On TikTok:
- Open TikTok and find the post you want to save.
- Tap the "Send to" icon (It looks like an arrow turning to the right).
- Find the MyRecipes icon and tap it (if you don't see it, scroll to the right in the middle row and tap “More,” then select MyRecipes from the list. If you still can’t find it, scroll again to the right and tap “More.” Choose MyRecipes from the list that appears.)
